Earth Hour is celebrated annually around the world to shine a light on climate change by turning off the lights for one hour between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
On Saturday, March 24th, Whistler Blackcomb will once again go beyond turning the lights off by turning off the switch to both mountains for Earth Hour (actually Earth Hour and a half). The power uphill on both mountains will be shut down from 8:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. The mountain has done this for several years and expects to save three megawatt hours of power or enough to run a home in British Columbia for three months.
