Tahoe Truckee Unified School District students are incorporating the new regional stewardship messaging campaign, "Take Care", into their schools. This campaign was created by the Lake Tahoe Outreach Committeeto help reduce negative impacts on the environment and to promote a more responsible use of our great outdoors. Through the use of funny headlines and cute illustrations, the "Take Care" campaign tackles litter, dog waste, proper dousing of campfires, bear awareness, and aquatic invasive species prevention.
Northstar California printed more than 600 signs for students to post in appropriate places around the school facilities as reminders to students to help take care of the local environment. Students are posting signs that read, "Hide trash here, please" and "There's a better spot for your garbage. The trash can." around the campuses to help with litter.
Students and adults are invited to visit takecaretahoe.org where they can pledge to "Take Care," watch a short video that brings the characters to life, learn more about how they can help, and download digital goodies.
