Eco-Products is the Official Zero Waste Partner of Vail Resorts. As the leading brand of compostable and recycled content foodservice packaging, Eco-Products is committed to a Zero Waste future. There’s purpose in our plates, consciousness in our cups, and potential in humble food scraps. We believe waste can be a wonderful thing if we rethink the way we purchase and dispose of packaging.
That’s why Vail Resorts partnered with Eco-Products to help us deliver on our Commitment to Zero goal to reach a zero net operating footprint by 2030, including zero waste to landfill. Together, we can turn the end of a meal into a planet of possibility.
Vail Resorts is working to eliminate all single-use, guest-facing conventional plastic products across our resorts, and Eco-Products provides disposable food and beverage items like cups, utensils, and grab-and-go containers made from plant-based and recycled materials that align with regional waste streams so they can be composted and recycled, rather than landfilled.
Our recent efforts at 3 Pennsylvania resorts are just one example of how Eco-Products and Vail Resorts are Putting Waste to Work:
The combined efforts of Eco-Products, Vail Resorts and Key City Compost teams helped make significant progress toward mutual waste diversion goals for the 2020-2021 season.
Working collaboratively, the teams created a list of mountains best-suited for focused diversion efforts during the 20/21 season including Liberty, Roundtop, and Whitetail. Using Eco-Products System Solutions approach, restaurant packaging was selected. This unique approach focuses on controlling inputs and outputs. It makes it easy for customers and staff to improve diversion and for composters/haulers to receive a clean packaging stream. Once the product assortment was finalized, Eco-Products turned to a strong partner, Key City Compost, to help provide the bins, training and education for mountain staff.
